Your Valorant name is your Riot ID: a game name plus a tagline after the #. You change it on your Riot account page, and it applies to every Riot game.

Step-by-Step Instructions
Go to your Riot account page
Open account.riotgames.com in your browser. This is Riot's official account portal; you can't change your name from inside the Valorant client.
Sign in
Use the same account you play Valorant with. If you normally sign in through a linked account, use that same method.
Open the Riot ID section
In the account menu, open Riot ID. Your current game name and tagline are shown.
Edit your name and tagline
Click the pencil icon next to your Riot ID. The game name can be 3 to 16 characters and the tagline 3 to 5, letters and numbers only. Game names don't have to be unique; the full name#tagline combination does.
Save your changes
Click Save Changes. Your new Riot ID applies to Valorant, LoL, and every other Riot game, and your next free change unlocks after 90 days.

Will Changing My Name Affect My Account?
Friends List & Stats
No. Changing your Riot ID won't wipe your friends list, your match history, or your competitive rank. Your friends will simply see your new name.
Skins, Radianite & Valorant Points
Your inventory (weapon skins, buddies, player cards), Radianite Points, and Valorant Points (VP) are safe. They're tied to your Riot account, not your display name.
Common Issues & Troubleshooting
"Riot ID Already in Use"
Someone already has that exact name and tagline combination. You can keep the same name if you pick a different 3 to 5 character tagline.
Edit Option Grayed Out
Riot allows one free change every 90 days, counted from your last change. There's no paid way to skip the wait. The one exception: if you're being harassed over your name, you can ask Riot Support for an early change through a ticket.
Name Rejected
Game names and taglines can't be offensive or inappropriate, and they only accept letters and numbers. If yours is rejected, check for symbols or words the filter might flag.
Region Tagline Blocked
Once you change your tagline, you can't go back to a region code. These taglines aren't available when changing your Riot ID: BR, LAS, LAN, OCE, NA, EUW, EUNE, TR, RU, KR, JP, PBE, BR1, LA1, LA2, OC1, NA1, ME, TW, VN, SEA.

- Consider your tagline: it's part of your identity and only 3 to 5 characters.
- Keep it pronounceable: teammates need to call you out in voice chat mid-round.
- Skip filler numbers: a clean name sticks better than Name12345.
- Check both fields: make sure your name and tagline are right before saving.
- Think long-term: if you regret it, you can't change again for 90 days.
