Will Changing My Name Affect My Account?

Friends List & Stats

No! Your friends list, stats (wins, K/D), V-Bucks, and locker items (skins, pickaxes) are all tied to your underlying Epic Games Account ID, not your display name. Changing your name will not delete anything.

Console Players (PlayStation, Xbox, Switch)

Important: Changing your Epic Games display name ONLY changes how you appear on PC/Mac/Mobile, or to friends connecting via Epic Games. If you play on a console, your in-game name is usually tied to your PSN ID, Xbox Gamertag, or Nintendo Account name. To change your name on console, you must change it through Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo.

Common Issues & Troubleshooting

"Invalid Credentials"

Ensure you are logging into the correct Epic Games account. Many users accidentally create a "nameless" Epic account when first playing on console. Try logging in using your console icon (PS/Xbox) rather than an email/password.

Name is Locked (Greyed Out)

If the edit icon next to your name is greyed out, you recently changed your name and must wait the full 14 days (2 weeks) before you can change it again.

Name Automatically Reset

If Epic Games found your new name violated their Community Rules (inappropriate, offensive, etc.), they will automatically reset it to a default "User" name.

Email Verification Needed

You cannot change your Epic Games display name until you have verified the email address associated with your account.
